CANTON, Miss. (WJTV) – After Tuesda’s storms, neighbors in Canton are working to clean up debris.
Several homes were without power on Wednesday. There are downed trees and power lines in part of the city.
“Shocked, in awe, and then I went to work and couldn’t work because we still had no lights, but this is something they we have to contend with and deal with,” said one woman who lives in the city.
Another neighbor, Neville Pearson, said, “In times like this, we have to be united together and think of each other.”
Alice Draine and her family lived in a Canton home for 35 years. It was damaged by a fallen tree. Draine said the damage breaks her heart, but it gives her hope that so many of her neighbors came out to lend a helping hand.
“I’m so amazed to see all my neighbors come together during this time, but not only for me during this time, but coming together period. You never know what’s going on in a person’s life or their household. So instead of just sitting back, come on out and join in and help,” she said.
Draine said no one was at home when the tree fell.
